Richland One Employees Win Top State Honors

Richland One congratulates three of its employees for providing outstanding service and leadership to its students and community. Details of their recent state awards are listed below.

SCANG Employer of the Year
Principal Dr. Denise Collier and her school, Burton-Pack Elementary, have been named the 2006 South Carolina Air National Guard (SCANG) Employer of the Year. The award recognizes extraordinary support given to SMSgt. Harry Kennedy, a full-time employee at Burton-Pack, who also serves his country as a member of the SC Air National Guard’s 169th Services Flight Division.

SMSgt. Kennedy expressed his appreciation of Dr. Collier’s support in these terms: "Dr. Collier regularly acknowledges members of the armed services and the sacrifices they make in defending the American way of life. During my recent deployments (she) maintained communication with my wife and family during my absence." Kennedy also praised Dr. Collier for allowing him to modify his work schedule in order to care for his wife during a recent illness.

Dr. Collier, Burton-Pack, and SMSgt. Kennedy will be recognized at the SCANG Awards Ceremony on May 6. As the state winner, Dr. Collier will also compete at the national level for the US Air National Guard Employer of the Year Award.
