A.C. FLORA MATH TEAM WINS BIG AT COMPETITION

The A.C. Flora Math Team competed in the 30th Annual College of Charleston Math Meet on February 24 and brought home several top honors.

Under the leadership of coach Patrick Rybarcyzk, the team placed first in the Math Marathon; first and second in the Level 2 written test; first in the Level 3 team written test; and first in the varsity team elimination. To win the varsity competition, A.C. Flora’s math team had to defeat in-state and out-of-state schools, a feat which had not been achieved by an in-state team in the past several years.

Following are the individual and team honors won by A.C. Flora Math Team members at the College of Charleston Math Meet:

* Jim Manning - first place, Math Marathon; first place, Level 3 written test

* Ian Taylor (first place) and Sean Soni (second place), Level 2 written test

* Ian Taylor, Sean Soni, Ella Soltz and Andrew Fritze – first place, Level 2 team written test

* Jim Manning, Katie Steddenbenz, Josie Bailey and Victoria Buckingham – first place, Level 3 team written test

* Jim Manning, Sean Soni, Katie Steddenbenz and Ian Taylor – first place, varsity team elimination
