FACILITIES NAMING COMMITTEE SEEKS INPUT

The Richland One Board of School Commissioners has appointed a committee to study a request to name the Hopkins Middle School auditorium the U.R. Barber Auditorium.

Ulysses R. Barber, who died in 2004, was a lifelong resident of the Hopkins community and served as teaching principal at the Hopkins School from 1940-1953.


The committee is seeking public input on the proposal. If you’d like to share your opinion with the committee, please prepare a written statement and mail it to: The Ad Hoc Committee on Naming Facilities, 1616 Richland Street, Room 211, Columbia, SC 29201.
