Richland One Teacher to Make Two-day Appearance on NBC’s ‘Deal or No Deal’
It’s must-see TV! Richland One teacher Ishmael Brown will make a two-day appearance on NBC’s popular game show "Deal or No Deal" on Wednesday, February 21at 9:00 p.m. and Monday, February 26 at 8:00 p.m. Did the Alcorn Middle School math teacher get the million dollar top prize? Did he stump "the banker" in his quest for riches? Brown can’t say, just yet. He has been sworn to secrecy until the shows air, but he’s planning to celebrate his national debut at a viewing party on February 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Damon’s Grill, 900 Senate Street. That evening invited friends, family, and colleagues, along with restaurant patrons, will cheer Brown on as he takes his turn in the national spotlight.
Brown, his mother Judy Brown, and his wife Rebecca, flew to Los Angeles on January 15 to tape the show. He landed a spot on "Deal or No Deal" at a local casting call last July in Columbia.
The show, hosted by comedian Howie Mandel, presents contestants with fast-paced, gut-wrenching choices as they try to win the $1 million top prize. Contestants must weigh the odds that the first sealed briefcase they pick to keep is the million-dollar case, by eliminating the other 25 cases one by one. Each round, the mysterious and unseen "banker" offers the contestants varying sums of money to give up their pursuit of the larger cash prizes, and Mandel asks them the pivotal question - "Deal or No Deal?"
Did Brown make the deal of a lifetime? You’ll have to tune in to find out.
