Superintendent Announces Principal
Assignments
Richland One Superintendent Dr. Allen Coles
today announced three principal assignments/reassignments
for the 2006-07 school year, effective July
1:
* Kathie Greer, principal at A.C. Flora High
School, will be principal at C.A. Johnson Preparatory
Academy next year. Dr. Jim Taylor, who has
served as principal at C.A. Johnson for the
past four years, is retiring.
"C.A. Johnson needs an
experienced principal with a strong curriculum
background," Dr.
Coles said. "Mrs. Greer’s skills
have been recognized by the state, and the
State Department of Education is planning to
appoint her as a principal specialist and C.A.
Johnson qualifies for a principal specialist."
"We are looking forward
to her leadership in helping C.A. Johnson move
closer to its mission of being a college preparatory
academy," he
said.
* Linda
Moniuszko, principal at Satchel Ford Elementary,
will join the district’s
Human Resources Division next year.
"Human Resources needs
the talents of individuals who have had school-based
experience as they go about the work of recruiting
and assigning teachers," Dr. Coles said.
* Francina Shack, principal at Columbia High
School, will be reassigned to another administrative
position in the district to be announced in
the coming weeks.
* Leevette Malloy, principal
at Lower Richland High School, has resigned
from the district effective July 1, as previously
reported.
Dr. Coles also announced a
change in the principal selection process.
All school administrators must now meet the
criteria to qualify for the district’s Qualified
Selection Pool. The Qualified Selection Pool
ensures that applicants have the qualifications
to serve as an administrator in Richland One.
Once in the pool, applicants may apply for
openings.
If the superintendent decides not to fill
the vacancy through an internal reassignment
of principals, then applicants in the Qualified
Selection Pool are interviewed by a committee
of district personnel to determine which applicants
have the knowledge and skills to meet the specific
needs of the school. The superintendent selects
the finalists for the position and may seek
input from the school-community before making
a decision.
Dr. Coles anticipates additional changes at
the school and central office levels in the
upcoming months.
