Richland One Hall of Fame Gala to be held Nov. 5

Partners In Education, Richland School District One’s educational foundation, will present the second annual Richland One Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Gala on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

The evening’s festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m., with a silent auction and wine-and-cheese reception. The dinner program will start at 7. WIS-TV anchor Craig Melvin, a Richland One graduate, will serve as master of ceremonies. The gala will culminate with dancing and a dessert reception. Attire is black-tie optional.

Richland One’s Hall of Fame was created to pay tribute to distinguished district alumni and other persons who have made significant contributions to the school district, their communities, their professions and society as a whole.

The 2005 Richland One Hall of Fame honorees are:

  • Attorney and businessman I.S. Leevy Johnson, a 1960 graduate of C.A. Johnson High School
  • Retired educator Celia Phelps Martin, a 1937 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School
  • The late Lt. Col. George D. “Marty” Martin III, a 1979 graduate of Lower Richland High School
  • Chief Justice Jean Toal of the S.C. Supreme Court, a 1961 graduate of Dreher High School
