Richland One School Wins Robotics Competition

Richland One congratulates the team from Keenan High School that won the Chairman’s award at this weekend’s FIRST Palmetto Regional Robotics Competition. Keenan’s Robo-Raiders designed a robot that competed against 47 competitors from SC and other states. The team captured the Regional Chairman’s Award, the most prestigious honor that can be won in the competition for their remarkable efforts to spread the message of FIRST and excite others about science and technology. That honor makes them eligible to compete in the FIRST Robotics international competition April 27 -29 in Atlanta. This is the third consecutive year that the Robo-Raiders have received an award to qualify them for the international competition. The goal of the FIRST Robotics competition is to stimulate students’ interest in science and technology.

The district extends its best wishes to the members of the Keenan Robo-Raiders. Their names are listed below. The team is coached by (Mr. Alvin Pressley (Dean of Academics), Dr. Martin Cwiakala (Math/Engineering Teacher), Mr. KaReem Beckett (Science/Engineering Teacher), Mrs. Kirstin Bullington (Science Teacher), Mrs. Peggy Cwiakala (Volunteer), and Mr. Carl Taylor (Volunteer/Bellsouth).
