Gadsden Elementary and WIS-TV announce High
Performance Partnership
Gadsden Elementary School and WIS-TV announced their High Performance Partnership in a kick-off event Held Monday, Aug. 30 at 3 p.m. at the school.
Funded through the S.C. Commission on Higher Education, and administered by the S.C. Chamber of Commerce, High Performance Partnerships is a program charged with improving academic achievement in South Carolina. This is accomplished by partnering schools that face any number of challenges with businesses that have resources to share.
“A component of the mission for Gadsden Elementary School is the preparation of students to become productive, lifelong learners in a complex and diverse society,” said Gadsden's principal Dr. Charles DeLaughter. “The Gadsden-WIS partnership will bring professionals into direct contact with students I ways that make learning interesting as well as relevant. A sustained HPP will interact with three other major influences---family, school and faith—to develop children into prolific learners who use knowledge to make a positive difference in their respective communities.”
High Performing Partnerships is not a structured program with firm mandates and directives. Each program is unique to the participating school and business, providing unlimited flexibility to create and implement an individualized plan for improvement. It is a vehicle for facilitating collaboration between school administrators and teachers and members of the state's business community and for gleaning new innovative strategies and skills that businesses might apply to a classroom and students.
“The ultimate goal of the Richland One Partnership program is to provide positive role model support for the students, broaden their horizons and raise their achievement, “ said Stacey Bryant, coordinator of volunteer and mentoring programs.” Through the partnership with WIS-TV and Gadsden Elementary, we will be able to achieve these goals.
