Richland One School Wins State
MATHCOUNTS Championship
Richland One congratulates
Crayton Middle School’s MATHCOUNTS team
which finished first at the South Carolina
State MATHCOUNTS competition on March 11th.
The Crayton team is led by veteran coach and
math teacher John Rushman.
Fourteen schools from across the state, along
with several individual participants, battled
it out to determine who was "the best
of the best" in solving math problems.
Crayton has placed first in the state for three
out of the last four years.
Overall Crayton students scored as follows:
*
Sean Soni - third place
* Caroline Cross - ninth place
* Meredith Nix - twelfth place
* Allison Day - fifteenth place
Sean Soni, who placed second in the Countdown
Round, has been invited to attend the national
MATHCOUNTS competition as a member of the South
Carolina state team. The honors for Crayton
don’t end there. Rushman has been selected
as the coach for the state team.
