Richland One Educator Selected
to Serve on Prestigious Accreditation Committee
Richland One congratulates
Dr. Carla Daniels, a media specialist at Eau
Claire High School, for her selection as a
Commissioner of the Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation
and School Improvement (SACS CASI).
Commissioners, who are among the South’s
leading educators, monitor and determine accreditation
of public and private schools and universities
in 11 southern states, as well as the countries
of Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean
islands and other geographic areas.
"I’m very proud to represent Richland
One on this state and regional committee,"
says Dr. Daniels. "It is truly an honor.
On this committee I’ll be able to help
set policy for the southern regional accreditation
process."
Dr. Daniels, a veteran educator with 26 years
of experience in South Carolina’s public
schools, was elected to serve at the Southern
Association’s annual conference this
week. She is presently a National Board-certified
library media specialist and has worked with
students on all grade levels. Dr. Daniels has
served on various Richland One strategic and
grant-writing teams, helping the district to
secure more than $2.5 million to benefit its
students. She is also a certified teaching
evaluator for the SC Department of Education.
The Southern Association is a voluntary, non-governmental
agency composed of more than 13,000 accredited
elementary, middle and secondary schools, as
well as colleges and universities.
