Richland One names 2005-06 Teacher of the Year and
Classified Employee of the Year
Outstanding Teachers for 2005-06, 2005 Retirees and 2054 Substitute Teacher of the Year finalists honored at annual gala celebration
Richland One honored the district’s Outstanding Teachers of the Year, Substitute Teacher of the Year finalists, 2005 retirees and Classified Employee of the Year nominees during Celebration 2005, an evening gala held recently.
Susan P. Yelverton, Satchel Ford Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year, was named as Richland One’s 2005-06 Teacher of the Year and will represent the district in the State Teacher of the Year competition.
A six-year veteran of education, Yelverton teaches theatre in grades kindergarten through 5. She received a B.A. in psychology from Wake Forest University, a MAT plus 30 hours in theater from USC and has completed additional study at USC-Aiken, Winthrop University and USC.
Her professional affiliations include Arts in Basic Curriculum, S.C. Alliance for Arts Education and the S.C. Theatre Association.
She is an active member of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church where she serves as a member of the Praise Choir. She also is active in local theatre productions at Workshop Theater, Trustus Theatre, Village Square Theatre and Theatre USC.
