Richland
One sponsors SWMBE orientation seminar
Richland One is holding a free orientation
workshop for small, women and minority-owned
businesses Monday, April 28 at 7 p.m. at Columbia
High School, 1701 Westchester Dr.
The purpose of the workshop is to explain
opportunities available in conjunction with
the upcoming bond construction program which
will cost approximately $381 million and center
on upgrading and constructing new secondary
schools.
Additionally, the district's goal for this
project is to have no less than 15 percent
of the total controllable dollars for procurement
of supplies, services and construction directed
to small, women and minority-owned businesses.
DESA has been contracted to provide consulting
services to SWMBEs to ensure a high rate of
participation in the project.
Seminar attendees will hear an overview of
the building program and review the schedule
for various construction phases. A session
on preparing to do business with the district
is part of the seminar.
