Jan. 5
As part of Richland One’s bond construction
program, a new Gibbes Middle School will be
built at the current site, 500 Summerlea Dr.
Beginning Jan. 6, Gibbes’ students will
be housed in the former Virginia Pack Elementary
School at 3602 Thurmond St. Bus schedules
for current riders remain the same. Bus schedules
for students who now walk to school will be
mailed to parents over the winter holidays.
School telephone numbers remain the same. Estimated
construction time for the new school is 18
months, with a target completion date of August
2005.
The Richland One Learning Center, formerly
known as the Alternative School, is relocating
from its present location, C.R. Neal Learning
Center at 2430 Atlas Rd., to the newly renovated
Olympia School Campus at 621 Bluff Rd. The
new telephone number is 400-1650.
Registration begins Jan. 6. Parents, students
and schools should contact the Center’s
Intake Office to schedule an appointment.
Also relocating to Olympia are the district’s
Teacher Center, several Instructional Technology
staff members and the district’s Professional
Development Academy.
