Richland One boasts both state Class AAA track and field championships

Dreher High School girls captured their second consecutive championship, and Eau Claire High School won the boys title at the S.C. High School League’s state track and field meet at Harry Parone Stadium in Columbia on May 10.

Dreher upset J.L. Mann to win the team title 99-90. Senior Tolly Todd repeated as the Class AAA pole vault champion.  Other Dreher winners included: Brittney James, second place, 100 hurdles, and third place, long jump; Kesha Tolliver, second place, shot put; Sarah Binkley, second place, 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters; and Katherine Warden, second place, 800 meters, and fifth place, 1,600 meters. Dreher’s relay team placed fourth in the 3,200 meters.

Eau Claire won 49-43 over Broome. Andrew Morris won the Class AAA triple jump title while Antonio Gantt placed fourth in the same event.  Josh Williams won the Class AAA 200 meters and finished second in the 100 meters and third in the 400 meters. Gantt also placed second in the long jump. Nyeem Lee placed seventh in the 100 hurdles.

Daniel Brooks coaches Dreher, and Ollie Wooden is the Eau Claire coach.
