Richland One ROSETA program hosts alumni reception

A reception for alumni of Richland One’s Student Exchange To Africa (ROSETA) program is Sunday, Oct. 20, from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Community Center, 2500 Elmwood Ave., featuring Borenya West African Drumming and Dance.

In 1992, Richland One initiated a school-to-school partnership with two international schools in Cameroon and Gabon. Groups of middle school students and one group of high school students, along with chaperones, have traveled to Africa to learn about the culture and educational system. The last group to travel to Africa visited Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast).

Attendees are encouraged to wear African attire. There will be a short program, including introduction of former student ambassadors and an invitation to join the alumni association. Contacts are Alfred Vanderpuije, Vera Johnson-Burkett and Emma McGraw Myers; call 929-3881 to confirm attendance.
