Hand Middle students win at regional National History Day competition

Hand Middle School students captured several awards at the regional National History Day competition held recently and will compete at the state level in April.

In the category of Individual Documentaries, winners were Freeman Hamilton, Amanda Carter, and Roddey Smith. Group Documentaries winners included: Joseph Ellis and Harry Tomlinson; Alanna Murday, Casey Wentworth, and Carrie Zornes; and Charles Francis, Richard Hahn, Carl Herro, Joseph Martin, and Freddrick Reynolds

Individual Exhibits winners included Ellison Sharpe, Gillian Connor, Daniel Kellogg, and Melissa Baier. Group Exhibits winners were: Hilary Riley and Lee Walker; Annabel Lang and Meagan O'Keefe; Nicki Priester and Sara Boggs and Kathryn Vickers, Sarah Van Zee, and Ali Duncan.

In the category of Historical Papers, Chris Pruitt, Ellen McDuffie, and Berkeley McKeown were winners.

In Individual Performances, winners were Hope Griffin and Mary Morgan Powell. Group Performances winners were: Mary Tilden and Kistler Ulmer; Chesley Elliott, Elizabeth Myers, and Deanna Santoro; Kaitlyn Rainwater and Courtney Taylor Marshall.
