Dreher High wins second Class AAA State SAT championship

Dreher High successfully defended its title, winning the Class AAA State SAT Championship for the second consecutive year on March 12.

Team members are Molly Bockman, Rob Bockman, Guy Boudreaux, Katherine Baysinger, J.T. Egan, Mary Kathryn Keane, Clark Lacy, Jennifer Mason, Sam McDermott and Larry Williams.

Also, Caitlin Myers, Sarah Orr, Rachel Perkins, Alice Robinson, Spencer Robinson, Matthew Thunell, David Wang, Brant Werts, Ted Wilcox and Chris Williams.

Guy Boudreaux of Dreher was runner-up for the Class AAA individual title.

This is the fifth year of the competition, and Dreher is one of only two schools to advance to the finals every year.

Over 500 students from 44 high schools participated in upper/lower state competition Feb. 26.  Students took a specially designed two-hour, 118-question exam that was divided into two sections of math and two sections of verbal questions.

The contest is open to all schools that are members of the South Carolina High School League, and participation is voluntary.  State winners received trophies and medallions provided by the League.
