Are you a local contractor interested in school construction projects? Richland One is offering local contractors the opportunity to learn more about the district’s school construction process through a series of free workshops. Any local contractor who has an interest in doing a school construction project with Richland One is encouraged to attend. The workshops are open to the public, but you must register first. All workshops will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Lyon Street Student Services Center, 1310 Lyon St.

Construction Contracts Legal Beagle 101
November 10, 2005
Workshop facilitator: Columbia attorney E.W. Cromartie III of Cromartie Law Firm LLC. Topics will include types of contracts, arbitration, escalation clauses and contract modifications.

Communications Management
December 8, 2005
Workshop facilitator: Sandra Bell, president of the NuBell Company, a management consulting firm in Atlanta, Ga. Topics will include good communication techniques and ways to avoid miscommunication. This class will help contractors learn how to address issues as they arise on construction sites.

Project Management
January 12, 2006
Workshop facilitator: Lasenta Lewis-Ellis of ENVIRO AgScience has overseen numerous multi-million dollar construction projects. Topics will include tips on starting, setting up and scheduling jobs and projects.
