Richland One Salutes 147 Outstanding
Seniors
Richland School District One saluted 147 outstanding
high-school seniors for their academic achievements
during the 2006 Richland One Academic All-Stars
Banquet, held April 18 at the Columbia Metropolitan
Convention Center.
"Celebrating Academic
Excellence" was
the theme for the fifth-annual event, which
is sponsored by the Partners In Education Foundation.
Shanai Harris, news anchor with WOLO ABC 25
and a Richland One graduate, served as mistress
of ceremonies. Diablos Azules, a band from
Dreher High School, provided the musical entertainment.
To qualify
as Academic All-Stars, students must be ranked
in the top 10 percent of their high school’s senior class and have at
least a 3.5 grade-point average. They also
must have no grade lower than a C for any subject
completed for high-school credit. Students
who meet the district’s High School Scholars
criteria also qualify as Academic All-Stars.
Selection is based upon the students’ academic
standing as of the end of the first semester
of the senior year.
