One nurse honored as S.C. School Nurse of the
Year
Jeanne Felder, a Richland One school nurse,
has received the South Carolina School Nurse
of the Year (RN) Award for 2003.
DHEC and the South Carolina Department of
Education presented the award at the 23rd Annual
School Nurse Conference in Charleston recently.
The purpose of the award is to annually select
a Registered Nurse (RN) practicing in a school
setting for his/her outstanding contributions
in the field of school nursing.
Felder is an advocate for the children at
John P. Thomas Elementary School and goes beyond
the call of duty to assist the students and
their families. She also is a lifelong learner,
having received a Master of Health Administration
degree in May 2003 from the Arnold School of
Public Health at the University of South Carolina.
Her professional affiliations include the American
Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau (Honor
Society of Nursing), SC Health Care Executives,
SC Nurses Association and the SC Association
of School Nurses.
Felder enjoys golf and piano, and she is an
avid reader. She and her husband Tom have three
sons.
