Richland One nurse honored as S.C. School Nurse of the Year

Jeanne Felder, a Richland One school nurse, has received the South Carolina School Nurse of the Year (RN) Award for 2003.

DHEC and the South Carolina Department of Education presented the award at the 23rd Annual School Nurse Conference in Charleston recently. The purpose of the award is to annually select a Registered Nurse (RN) practicing in a school setting for his/her outstanding contributions in the field of school nursing.

Felder is an advocate for the children at John P. Thomas Elementary School and goes beyond the call of duty to assist the students and their families. She also is a lifelong learner, having received a Master of Health Administration degree in May 2003 from the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina. Her professional affiliations include the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau (Honor Society of Nursing), SC Health Care Executives, SC Nurses Association and the SC Association of School Nurses.

Felder enjoys golf and piano, and she is an avid reader. She and her husband Tom have three sons.
