ONE SCHOOLS, COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE HONORED
FOR PR EXCELLENCE
April 2, 2004 – The S.C. Chapter
of the National School Public Relations
Association (SC/NSPRA) recognized schools,
school districts and agencies from across
the state for excellence in school communication
during the chapter’s annual Rewards
for Excellence Luncheon today at Riverbanks
Zoo and Botanical Garden.
Four Richland One schools – Forest
Heights Elementary, Satchel Ford Elementary,
Webber Elementary and Crayton Middle – and
the district’s Office of Communications
received several SC/NSPRA awards:
Forest Heights Elementary
won four awards – a
Golden Achievement Award for its “Eagle
Talk” package of informational items
for parents stressing the importance of
the home-school partnership and Awards
of Excellence for its Internet home page,
Extraordinary Eagles school newsletter
and Triad magazine
Satchel Ford Elementary won a Golden Achievement
Award for its “Friday Fathers” initiative
designed to involve more fathers and grandfathers
in the daily life of the school
Webber Elementary won an Award of Excellence
for its school newsletter, The Webber Word,
and Crayton Middle won an Award of Excellence
for its Crayton Chronicle school newsletter
The district’s Communications Office
won Awards of Excellence for four original
Richland One TV programs – Richland
One This Week, On The Sidelines, Living
Smart and Perspectives. The Volunteer Recruitment
PSA produced by Richland One TV received
an Award of Merit. The Office of Communications
also received Awards of Excellence for
its 2002-2003 Annual Report, 2004 Legislative
Platform brochure, volunteer recruitment
handouts and This Week employee newsletter.
