Richland One seniors named to the Golden Palmetto All-State Leadership Team

Four Richland One students are among 77 students statewide named to the Golden Palmetto Leadership Team, sponsored by The State newspaper and Sonoco. The team honors students for their extraordinary commitment to community service.

Richland One honorees are: Barrett Elizabeth Fisher, a senior at Dreher High School, whose volunteer activities include Harvest Hope Food Bank, the Crop Walk, Washington Street UMC soup cellar and Habitat for Humanity; Rashan Jerome Noble, a senior at W.J. Keenan High School, who serves as a volunteer with Nurturing Center, St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church soup kitchen, Get Out the Vote initiative and the Bantu Resettlement Project; Miranda Michelle Montgomery, a senior at Columbia High School, who volunteers with Shamrocks for Muscular Dystrophy, Key Club, Salvation Army, and Harvest hope food Bank; and Sarah Harvey, a senior at Dreher High, whose volunteer activities include Special Olympics, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Young Democrats for South Carolina.

Students were judged on an essay describing their volunteer efforts. The State’s judging committee also considered students’ academic transcripts, extracurricular and other leadership activities and letters of recommendation.
