Richland One’s Montessori Programs to Begin 2008-09 Open Enrollment
Parents interested in enrolling their children in Richland One’s innovative Montessori programs are invited to attend information sessions scheduled for January and February of next year. Four Richland One elementary schools offer the hands-on, self-paced method of learning where children are taught in classes with students of various ages.
Parents must attend a one-hour information session in order to apply for a Montessori program. At that meeting, they’ll learn about the Montessori style of teaching, the application process and tuition requirements. Tuition is charged only for children in the three- and four-year old kindergarten classes. Tuition will be charged on a sliding scale based on a family’s meal status (free, reduced or full-pay). Waivers may be available to eligible students.
Montessori program requirements are listed below:
* Three-year-old kindergarten program: Children eligible for the program must be age three by June 1, 2008. No transportation is provided for this half-day program.
* Four-year-old kindergarten through fifth-grade programs: These programs offer a full day of instruction. By state law, students enrolling in these classes must reach the age requirement by September 1, 2008. Transportation is provided for these programs.
