Richland One Schools and City of Columbia to Launch Community-Wide Food Drive for the Needy

Richland One and the City of Columbia have launched a city-wide and district-wide effort to feed the hungry this holiday season. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, all Richland One schools will be collecting food for the needy during the first two weeks of December. The items will be donated to the Harvest Hope Food Bank.

Anyone who wishes to make a donation can drop off nonperishable food items at any of Richland One’s 48 schools December 4-12. Donations can also be taken to any of Columbia’s parks throughout the month of December.

The food drive is a joint project of the Martin Luther King Memorial Foundation Committee, which will host its Martin Luther King Day Celebration on Monday, January 26, 2009.

For more information please contact the Richland One Office of Communications at 231-7504 or 231-7510.
