Richland One Schools Celebrate American Education Week

Richland One joins school districts across the nation in celebrating American Education Week, November 16-22. This annual event spotlights the importance of providing a quality public education to America’s children and the need for everyone to do his or her part in making public schools great.

Here is a listing of some of the activities planned at Richland One schools:

Arden Elementary
November 20 - Parents are invited to have lunch with their children.
November 21 - Students will receive popsicles to symbolize that school is cool.

Lewis Greenview Elementary
November 17-21 - Parent career talks, daily, 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
November 17-21 – Food drive for Harvest Hope Food Bank
November 18 - Recycle Day: Bring/drop off recyclable items
November 18 - PTA Program and essay readings, 6 p.m.
November 19 - College Spirit Day: Wear a college shirt or colors
November 20 - Character / Manners Day: Thanksgiving meal served
November 21 - Fifth-Grade Students: Teachers For A Day

Mill Creek Elementary
November 18 - College Appreciation Day: students wear college sweatshirts
November 19 - Red, White and Blue Day: students dress up in patriotic colors
November 20 - Lunch with parents at school (kindergarten – second grade)
November 21 - Students in grades 3-5 eat lunch with parents

Pendergrass Fairwold
November 18 - Luncheon with parents/guardians
November 19 - Appreciation day for bus drivers
November 20 - Custodial Recognition: The "Clean Award"
November 21 - Events to honor substitute teachers

Pine Grove Elementary
November 18 - Bring a Parent to School Day
November 19 - Celebration to thank faculty and staff
November 20 - District and community leaders will share some of their
favorite books with students or speak to classes about dreaming big and accomplishing goals.
November 21 - Gift bags will be given to substitute teachers.

South Kilbourne Elementary
November 18 - Math Estimation Day: classes guess the numbers of items in a
bucket full of goodies
November 19 - Writing Sparks: students write essays about where they would
like to travel and why
November 20 - Family Thanksgiving luncheon with parents
November 21- Spirit Day- Students wear jeans and sports jerseys

Webber Elementary
November 18- Parents will shadow their children for a day.
November 19 - (12:30 – 2 p.m.) Ministers, business partners and elected
officials have been invited to a luncheon where they will participate in a
panel discussion on ways they can make Webber a great public school.
November 20 - Richland One administrative employees will read to students
from 7:30- 9 a.m.
November 21 - Teachers and education support staff will be recognized,
including a 9:30 a.m. drop-in for retired teachers.
