Richland One to Celebrate Success of After-School Programs

Richland One will celebrate the success of its diverse and award-winning after-school programs during a special convocation at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 3 in the Gibbes Middle School auditorium, 500 Summerlea Drive.

Hundreds of students, parents, teachers and supporters will cheer on the event’s keynote speaker, City of Columbia Police Chief Tandy Carter, as he talks about the impact and importance of after-school programs to working parents. WIS-TV reporter Lucas McFadden will serve as this year’s master of ceremonies.

The winners of the district’s 2008 Great Friend to After-school Awards will be announced at the event. These honors are bestowed upon the individuals, businesses and organizations that have been outstanding supporters of Richland One after-school programs.
