RICHLAND ONE TO HONOR STUDENTS FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Richland One will honor 124 high-achieving seniors during the district’s 2008 Academic All-Stars Recognition Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
Aarika Woods, host of the award-winning teen talk show Extra Credit on Richland One TV, will serve as the mistress of ceremonies for this year’s banquet. The program also will feature musical entertainment from the Eau Claire High Jazz Ensemble and the Shamrocks Steel Band.
To qualify as Academic All-Stars, students must be ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school’s senior class, have at least a 3.5 grade-point average and have no grade lower than a C for any subject completed for high-school credit. Selection is based on the students’ academic standing as of the end of the first semester of their senior year.
All-Stars represent each of the district’s seven high schools (Columbia, Dreher, Eau Claire, A.C. Flora, C.A. Johnson, Keenan and Lower Richland) and the Richland One Middle College.
The Partners In Education Foundation sponsors the annual Academic All-Stars Recognition Banquet. Partners In Education is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization that works to support and enhance the quality of education in Richland One and advance the district’s mission.
