Richland One Announces Latest Award Winners

Richland One continues to be an outstanding school district. Please join us in congratulating the latest list of award winners.


Hand Middle School eighth-grader Sarah Rhu won the 2008 Millennium Magazine Youth
Journalism Award for her exceptional essay on the life of South Carolina Reconstruction-era Congressman Robert Smalls and her accomplishments on the Hand Mock Trial team. Sarah was presented the award at a banquet held at the AT&T building on March 27.


Richland County Senior Deputy Sherrick Hill, a school resource officer at Brockman and John P. Thomas elementary schools, was named 2008 SC DARE Officer of the Year during the organization’s annual conference in Myrtle Beach March 23-28.

 


Meadowfield Elementary’s School Improvement Council achieved double honor as a finalist and honorable mention recipient for the Dick and Tunky Riley School Improvement Award for 2008. The group was recognized for its efforts to improve student achievement and to have Meadowfield become the first nationally-certified Paideia Academy in South Carolina.
