Eleven Richland One Students Named 2008 National Merit Program Finalists

Eleven Richland One students have been named finalists in the prestigious and highly competitive 2008 National Merit Program, which awards college scholarships to academically gifted students. Students will be notified of scholarship decisions this spring.

The district congratulates the following students for their selection as finalists:

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and college scholarships. Finalists are chosen based on high scores on the PSAT, academic achievement, teacher recommendations and other strict criteria. There are three types of awards: National Merit $2,500 scholarships that are single-payment awards; corporate-sponsored Merit/Achievement awards that may be renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study or one-time awards; and college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards that are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study.
