Richland One’s Adult Education Office to Offer Saturday Classes, Free Computer Course
Need to learn more about computers or get ready for your GED test? Starting in April, Richland One’s Office of Adult Education will be offering a variety of Saturday and evening classes to help busy adults sharpen their computer skills or prepare for tests to get their GED or high school diploma.
Free Computer Course
Introduction to Computers: This four-week course will teach beginners how to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting April 1- 29
Time: 6-8 p.m.
Location: St. Andrews Middle School, 1231 Bluefield Road
Although the course is open to anyone, parents of St. Andrews Middle School students and citizens living in that community are encouraged to register by calling 731-8910, extension 2153. Only 23 seats are available.
Saturday Adult Education Classes
1. HSAP Math Preparation: Did you graduate with a certificate? Would you like to obtain your diploma? This course will help you prepare to take the High School Assessment Program (HSAP) math test which will be administered on April 24.
Class dates: Saturdays, April 5, 12, 19
Class times: 8:30 a.m. - noon
Cost: $40
Prerequisite: Prior to attending HSAP math class, your math skills/level must be assessed. Choose one of these assessment dates: 8:30 a.m. on March 12 or 19 or 5 p.m. on March 13 or 20. There is a $5 assessment test fee.
2. GED Preparation Courses
Official GED Practice Test: Think you’re ready to take your GED, but would like to do a test run first? You can take the official GED Practice Test online and get results immediately.
Practice Test Dates: Saturdays, April 12, 19
Time: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Cost: $25
GED Fast Track: This fast-paced course is designed to teach the skills needed to take and successfully pass the GED test scheduled for May.
Class Dates: Saturdays, April 5, 12, 19, 26
Class Time: 9 a.m. - noon
Cost: $50
Richland One will pay the $70 GED test fee for all students who meet all requirements of the GED Fast Track class.

Introduction to Desktop Publishing: Learn to create flyers, brochures, business cards and event programs.

Introduction to Microsoft Office: You will be introduced to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet.
Dates: Saturdays, April 5, 12, 19 and 26
Class time: 8:30 a.m. - noon
Cost: $20
