HAMPTON UNIVERSITY CHOIR TO PERFORM IN RICHLAND ONE
The Hampton University Concert Choir has performed with renowned singers like Andre Crouch and at the Kennedy Center and other grand concert halls, churches and cathedrals around the world. Next week the choir will share its musical gifts with Richland One.
The choir will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 in the St. Andrews Middle School theater, 1231 Bluefield Rd. The Richland One Honors Chorus will be the special guest choir.
The free concert is sponsored by the Mid-South Carolina chapter of the National Hampton Alumni Association Inc., in association with Richland One’s Visual and Performing Arts Department and Office of Dropout Prevention, Specialized Interventions and Partnerships. In addition to the concert that night, the choir will give a mini-performance at A.C. Flora High School at 10 a.m.
"We want to bring more exposure to the arts and to create unique partnerships between the district and higher education," said Kerry Abel, president of the Hampton Alumni Association chapter and dropout prevention coordinator for Richland One.
