Richland One Middle College Receives $100,000 Grant

Success breeds success and the Richland One Middle College will be sharing its formula for improved student achievement with other schools thanks to funding from a $100,000 grant from the State Department of Education.

The funding will allow the Middle College, a charter school based on the Beltline campus of Midlands Tech, to assist C.A. Johnson Preparatory Academy, Eau Claire High School and Heyward Career and Technology Center, as well as other school districts and all of the state’s technical colleges.

The Middle College uses a method called the Guaranteed Student Success Formula which has been credited with increasing student academic achievement, retention and graduation rates by offering students early college credit, paid internships and other opportunities to learn in a real-world work setting. This partnership of parents, students, faculty and businesses is designed to help students improve their grades, career choices and leadership skills.
