MEADOWFIELD FOURTH-GRADERS TO WALK (SING AND DANCE) ON THE WILD SIDE
Their tale of adventure begins deep in the heart of the jungle on Monday, January 28. Using costumes and sets they created themselves, Meadowfield Elementary fourth-grade students will transform themselves into Mowgli, Shere Kahn, Baloo and other well-known characters as they perform the musical version of the children’s classic The Jungle Book. The students have been working with artist-in-residence Lee Shepherd on the production. Free public performances are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the school cafetorium.
Prior to their production, students studied Rudyard Kipling’s original version of The Jungle Book and compared it with the Disney movie adaptation. Their performance incorporates attributes of the Paideia Project, which integrates math, science, reading, writing, art and music in the learning process.
