Richland One Seeking Sites for After-school Programs

Churches, day care providers, schools, nonprofit groups, colleges and other organizations interested in hosting after-school programs for Richland One students are invited to an informational meeting at 4 p.m. Monday, January 26 in room 102 of the Stevenson Administration Building, 1616 Richland St.

At the meeting, participants will learn how they can apply for grants in the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program. The district is looking for organizations to be their partners in providing tutorial services, art, music, recreation programs, technology education and other activities for students and their families. Programs funded by the 21st Century project can provide assistance to students and their families before school, after school, during holidays, and/or during the summer break.

Meeting attendees also will get information about the types of programs eligible for funding, how to write grants, deadlines and other vital details. Anyone who would like more information about the 21st Century Community Learning Center Afterschool Grant program should contact Dr. Traci Cooper at 231-6842.

Questions from the media should be directed to the Richland One Office of Communications at 231-7504 or 231-7510.
