Richland One to Host Informational Meeting about Grants for After-School Programs
Churches, day care providers, nonprofit groups, colleges and other organizations interested in hosting after-school programs for Richland One students are invited to an informational meeting on Tuesday, January 22 at 4 p.m. in room 102 of the Stevenson Administration Building, 1616 Richland Street.
At the meeting participants will learn how they can apply for grants of up to $200,000 a year in the 21st Century Community Learning Center program. The district is looking for organizations with innovative ideas and programs to be their partners in providing tutorial services, art, music, recreation programs, technology education and other activities for students and their families. Programs funded by the 21st Century project must provide assistance to students and their families when school is not in session such as before school, after school, during holidays, and/or during the summer break.
At Tuesday’s meeting representatives from the State Department of Education and Richand One’s Office of Extended Day programs will discuss the types of programs eligible for funding, how to write grants, deadlines and other details grant applicants will need.
Anyone who would like more details about the 21st Century Community Learning Center program should contact Dr. Traci Cooper at 231-6842.
