• Hall of Fame logo Richland One Hall of Fame

    Persons, living or deceased, who have made significant contributions to Richland County School District One, to their communities, to their professions or to society as a whole, are eligible for induction into the Richland One Hall of Fame. Nominees may be alumni of Richland One schools or persons who did not attend Richland One schools. Seventy persons have been inducted since the Hall of Fame was established in 2004.

    Persons eligible for nomination for the Hall of Fame may include:

     

    • Former Richland One students*
    • Former Richland One employees*
    • Former Richland One school board members*
    • Community leaders
    • Parents of former Richland One students
    • Any other persons who have made the kinds of contributions which qualify for recognition in the Richland One Hall of Fame

    * NOTE: Alumni of Richland One schools are eligible for the Hall of Fame five (5) years after their graduation. Former Richland One employees and former Richland One school board members are eligible for induction two (2) years after their employment with the district or service on the Board has ended. Current elected officials (i.e. City Council members, legislators and other political office-holders) are ineligible for consideration; however, former elected officials may be nominated.

    • Richland One Superintendent Emeritus Dr. John R. Stevenson
    • Former S.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean Toal
    • Attorney and former Columbia Mayor Bob Coble 
    • Retired educator Fannie Phelps Adams (deceased)
    • Health care executive John W. Bluford 
    • Senior U.S. District Judge Matthew J. Perry, Jr. (deceased)
    • Attorney and businessman Jim Leventis (deceased)
    • Nickelodeon TV network executive Jean Margaret Smith Card
    • Trauma surgeon Dr. Raymond Bynoe
