Progress Monitoring
A critical component of the RtI process is progress monitoring. Progress monitoring enables teachers to determine whether an intervention is effective and provides an opportunity to share with students the outcomes of their learning and involve them in setting realistic goals.
The advantage of progress monitoring is it’s quick (usually between 1-3 minutes), and it provides information early in the intervention process. Progress monitoring provides a teacher with information to help guide instructional decisions; if progress is not being made, the instructional strategy can be changed early in the process.
What It Is
Essentially progress monitoring is a quick snapshot, or probe, that is conducted frequently throughout the duration of an intervention. These probes are also called curriculum based measurements. Teachers may create their own progress monitoring tools or use some of the readily available probes found at:
easycbm.com
interventioncentral.com or
dibels.com
Tracking Data
The RtI component in TestView is currently under development to accommodate progress monitoring and student intervention plans data. Teachers will input progress monitoring data for students receiving interventions into TestView. Various data reports will be readily available to teachers and administrators.
