Talking To Children About Terrorism and War
In today's world, parents are faced with the challenge of explaining violence, terrorism and war to children. Although difficult, these conversations are extremely important. More>>

Social Workers
School social workers assist teachers, families and schools to improve the connection between the home, community and the child’s educational world. Social workers make home visits and help connect families with needed school and community services, such as assisting parents to complete Special Education Packets, food, clothing, mental health services, tutoring, and alcohol or drug abuse referrals. These services become particularly important when the needed resource is preventing a student from achieving in the classroom.

Psychologists
If your child is having academic or behavior problems in school, the teacher may ask that s/he be referred to a school psychologist, who will observe and test your child to see if there is some psychological reason for the problem. You will be asked for your written permission for the psychologist to work with your child.

Nurses
The district has registered nurses at each school. They check records to be sure students have had the required immunizations, screen children for health problems and work with parents and school personnel in controlling communicable diseases, such as measles, head lice, tuberculosis and other, health-related problems. They follow up on children with health problems to help them get adequate care, offering community resources to those who qualify.
