How did Project
G.O.A.L. begin?
The South Carolina Department of Education
provided a three year grant to W. J. Keenan
High School through Target 200 education reform
program. The aim of Project G.O.A.L. was to
reduce the dropout rate of students and to
help them become competent productive individuals.
After three years of success, the project
began to expand to three other district schools.
W. A. Perry Middle School, Alcorn Middle School,
and Eau Claire High School were chosen to implement
Project G.O.A.L. for their students.
Since that time, Project G.O.A.L. remains
only in two high schools, Keenan High School
and Eau Claire High School.

Why is Project G.O.A.L.needed?
A number of students are faced with personal
crisis during each school year. These crises
can include poor academic performance, pregnancy,
retainment, adjustment to high school, chronic
attendance problems, discipline problems, economic
difficulties or drug related issues. As a result
these issues can put the student in danger of
dropping out of school. Project G.O.A.L. serves
as an alternative for students to maintain school
stability and become productive individuals.
Most of all, it provides students with coping
strategies to assist them in being successful.
