DIGITAL
HIGH SPEED COPYING
Q: What exactly does digital copying mean?
A: First generation copy of your document.
Example: Instead of making a copy of your document,
we use your original file and print it directly
to our high speed copier, like you would print
to your printer. More on preferred file types
below
Printing Services uses a Cannon Image Runner high speed laser copier capable
of speeds exceeding 110 copies per minute. The Cannon also collates and staples
on-line producing exceptional quality. |
|
DIGITAL
COLOR COPYING
We also use a Cannon digital color copier which produces photo quality images
at a rate of 35 copies per minute in sizes up to 11 x 17. |

PDF
FILE FORMAT
One of the biggest
challenges of sending
a file to Printing
Services is making
sure you have accounted for everything that is needed to output your file… every
image, every font and every graphic must be linked and available for your file
to print correctly. So what is one to do? Create the document in a "print-ready" format
such as PDF.
PDF files contain
all your images,
all your fonts and
all your graphics
in one file. The
file can then be
transferred cross
platform (IBM to
Mac to UNIX) without
a single problem.
The end result is
a smaller size file
(than the original
file plus linked
files), a file that
prints exactly how
you see it on your
screen and is the
new standard for
electronic distribution.
Since
the PDF format is
typically not used
for creating files,
but is instead a
way to convert files
created in your favorite
applications into
a digital "picture," you
do not have to change the way you create your documents. So use your favorite
page layout or illustration applications and when you're done, convert the
file to PDF. (Call Tommy at the Print Shop for more information on converting
your file at 231-6950.) |
