Qualified Selected Pool
Prospective Principal and Assistant Principal Candidates’ credentials will be screened for admission into the Richland One Qualified Selection Pool (QSP). Minimum requirements include the following:
Principal QSP:
- Possess or be eligible for a valid South Carolina teaching certificate with administrative endorsement
- A minimum of two successful years serving as a principal or assistant principal
- Completion of a district telephone screening interview
Assistant Principal QSP:
- Possess or be eligible for a valid South Carolina teaching certificate with administrative endorsement
- A minimum of two successful years serving as an assistant principal or successful completion of an administrative leadership program.
- Completion of a district telephone screening interview
Principal and Assistant Principal candidates selected for the QSP will be notified in writing by the Office of Human Resource Services. Once in the OSP candidates will be notified if selected for initial interviews for available positions within the school district.

STEP 1: Apply for South Carolina Educator Certification

This site provides up-to-date and relevant information pertaining to all facets of educator certification, including but not limited to, the certification process, regulation changes, updating existing certificates and valuable links to information for educators. http://www.scteachers.org
STEP 2: Online Application
Complete the online application via http://pats.richlandone.org and
submit the following documents:

Three confidential reference
forms from supervisory administrators
(i.e. immediate or past). These individuals
must have supervised you on a classroom
setting (i.e. principal, assistant principal,
master teacher, university supervisor,
etc.). The Richland One reference forms
are available online and can be downloaded
and printed from the online application
main menu. Go To http://pats.richlandone.org and click on APPLICANT FORMS. Reference
forms are also available in the Office
of Human Resources, 1616 Richland Street,
Columbia, SC 29201. If you have completed
references available on the South Carolina
Common Teacher Application (CERRA/Winthrop),
please email recruit@richlandone.org requesting that your references be download
from this site.

STEP 3: Screening Interviews:
Please click here to complete an online Interest Form.
By completing the interest form, you will be contacted by a representative from Human Resources Services within a week to schedule a screening interview. If you have completed the interest form and participated in a screening interview previously, you do not have to complete the form again. The screening interview will be utilized to evaluate the candidacy of teachers, assistant principals, and principals and as perspective District One employees as well as determine the best fit for potential vacancies. Additionally, interview results will be forwarded to school personnel who are involved in the hiring process. Do understand that in order to become an employee of Richland School District One, you must complete the PATS application.
