Introduction

You’ve just become engaged. Congratulations!  Your future parents-in-law offer to cover your honeymoon expenses.  You’re very excited until you hear that they plan to join you.      Still, you plan to make the best of it.  After all, it is a free trip and Morocco sounds pretty exotic.  This will give you a chance to show your in-laws how much French you still remember from your three years in high school.  Your parents offer to help you in your planning for this 10-day trip.

 Phase II

Five days after your arrival in Morocco, you’re finally getting over the initial culture shock. You decide to sneak away and write a letter to share your first impressions with your best friend in Columbia, SC.  You tell her about the sights, scents and sounds of this mystical country where the “old” meets the “new” and where your senses are incessantly teased, comforted and assaulted.  You tell her about the people you’ve met, the places you’ve visited, the food, the outdoor markets, and your overall experience.

Conclusion

Congratulations are in order, once again! You have planned a 10-day trip for people belonging to two different generations.  You explored a distant land with a culture that is very different from your own.  And you showed your in-laws how well you could manage in a French-speaking country.  In fact, your in-laws are so pleased with the experience that they would like you to plan another trip for four (yes, that includes you and your
spouse!) to Madagascar.  Bonne chance!
