Early Childhood Education
Pre-Kindergarten

Children must be 4 on, or before, September 1st of the applicable year in order to be screened for possible acceptance in the PreKindergarten Program offered in Richland School District One.

The PreKindergarten Program in Richland One serves approximately 820 four year-olds each year who are determined to be most at risk of school failure. Children are screened with the DIAL -3 assessment instrument, and using these scores and other criteria outlined by the State of South Carolina, children are selected for the program.

Richland One teaches the State Standards that have been outlined for PreKindergarten students. Our learning environments and instructional strategies consistently provide age appropriate, individual, and culturally appropriate experiences for our PreKindergarten students.
