Grades

  • To earn the special diploma, a 4.0 grade point ratio (GPR) in AAP or AP courses must be attained for the four years' work as a participant in the program. No grade below a C will be accepted in non- AAP or non-AP courses.

  • When computing the GPR for HSS, college-credit courses (non- AP courses taken on a college campus) will be given the same weighted grades as AAP courses and will count towards the 30-unit requirement.

Extracurricular Activities

Students must earn eight points for extracurricular activities. These points may be earned through in-school activities, sports, fine arts participation or community service. Two of these points must be earned in the fine arts.

Extracurricular Point System

The High School Scholars point system was developed by a committee made up of students, parents and faculty. If students participate in some activities not included in the point system, they have a right to present them to the Guidance Counselor to determine whether these activities could count towards their extracurricular requirements.

The activities that are to be counted as extracurricular should be verified by the appropriate sponsor, instructor, coach, etc., and turned in to the school's HSS contact person by May 1 of each year. Seniors must turn in their extracurricular points no later than March 15 of their senior year.
